Therapy with Sunni Jones-Ford, LCSW

This offering is for individual talk therapy delivered virtually to clients living in New York State. My role as a licensed therapist is to guide you on your self-discovery and healing journey. I will support you in uncovering the answers and inner wisdom that is already inside of you. I am active in the process of therapy —meaning I will offer encouragement, challenge limiting beliefs, and reflect back your inner strengths. I will guide you to identify tools that you can use outside the session that will help you in your daily life. Common themes I have supported clients through are codependency, people-pleasing and unhealthy boundaries. I work with clients who are navigating anxiety coupled with at least one of the following:

Life transitions and significant life shifts: a major shift can be something you initiated or an unexpected change. if the change feels significant to you, it qualifies as a major shift —it does not matter how someone else views it. major shifts encompass but are not limited to break-ups (romantic and platonic), moving to a new city, divorce and career shifts. it also includes more subtle changes —like starting to see yourself differently. Noticing a shift in yourself is an opportunity to rediscover your wants, needs, fears and priorities.

Self-esteem and self imagine challenges: how you present to the world and how you feel internally do not always align. you may even wonder how others perceive you and this can impact your mood and actions. through therapy you can learn to get curious about your self-image and your internal dialogue. it is normal to experience self-doubt but there are tools to help lessen its influence on your daily life.

Pattern recurrence: are you feeling stuck or seeing yourself in a similar situation over and over again? being in this space can feel disempowering and even motivate you to find a new way to navigate your life. Together we can explore a new path that feels more empowering —while also learning from the recurring patterns.

Maintenance of self: there is space within therapy to focus on the maintenance of self and shifting out of survival mode. even when you have a positive outlook on life it’s still completely normal to experience anxious moments or notice that coping skills that were once effective are no longer working. it is possible to take a proactive approach to your mental health plus learn new tools to support your well-being.

My intention is to provide a
warm environment where you will be encouraged to express your feelings and personal challenges without fear of judgment while helping you gain the insight + tools to navigate your healing journey. My approach is integrative and influenced by CBT, Parts Work, Attachment Theory, Inner Child Work and Mindfulness approaches.
